Our Guide: Adding Colour To Your Home With Moroccan Rugs
Filling your home with colour is as easy as adding a beautiful bold and textural vintage Moroccan rug.
Whether you're a minimalist or maximalist. Prefer traditional vintage or a more contemporary look. Following the design trends or going your own way. There's a vintage Moroccan rug to suit everyone's taste and home.
Here's a few tips and examples from some of the floors where our rugs have landed to give you some ideas for adding colour effortlessly to your space.

Go bold in a neutral space
While the trend for white washed walls and floorboards with all white furnishings has had it's moment - by updating a mostly neutral space with bold colourful textiles it can be the perfect blank canvas.
Adding a vintage rug or runner in rich tones to a freshly painted white room will allow your rug to take centre stage, giving life to an otherwise clinical looking environment. (Not to mention slightly more forgiving when there's a red wine or coffee spill..)
Beautiful vintage Moroccan Boujads with their typical large central diamond shapes and unique design work full of stories and symbology woven through are a great choice with their rich colour pallets in reds, purples, pinks and magentas.

Take your cues from your favourite art
Matching the colours and details in your favourite art piece is a great place to start with choosing the right colour rug.
Opting for a tonal pallet that blends with your art works, linen, furnishings and textiles creates a calming synergy where everything feels like it's in it's right place.
Picking up on a contrasting or highlight colour can add an unexpected detail to a room that lifts your gaze effortlessly from the floor to your walls.

Clash of the Prints
If you're already a pro at injecting colour, don't be afraid to go a step further with clashing wild and OTT prints. No combination is too much or out of bounds.
Splash out on a fresh set of printed bed linen from your favourite homewares brand and add an artistic boucherouite (Moroccan rag rug) or Azilal creation to complete the space.
The beauty of the Moroccan boucherouite and Azilal region pieces is that they're often smaller, lighter, and easy to move around than the larger area rugs. So you can mix and match to your heart's content, moving them from room to room as your tastes, the seasons or your mood changes.
Perfect for creative studios, bedrooms, kids rooms and busy family spaces.

Setting the mood in the bedroom
Stepping your feet onto a plush Moroccan rug by your bedside is a beautiful way to wake up in the morning.
The rich colours of a vintage Boujad will add warmth and comfort. Paired with luxurious linens, layered blankets and textured throw pillows creates a moody & romantic bedroom vibe.
Or if you're going for a light & breezy Summer sanctuary, choose softly faded back pinks, blues or terracottas to keep the space bright.
