Marrakech Cafes With Sunny Courtyards & Rooftops

Marrakech Cafes With Sunny Courtyards & Rooftops

10 Marrakech cafes with leafy courtyards & sunny rooftops

Instagram is flooded with the same "hidden gems" so here's a few cafes you might not have come across yet to add to Google Maps for your day of exploring Marrakech medina.

These are all relaxed cafes where it's ok to stop in for a quick coffee, or stay longer for lunch with a rooftop view or some leafy green shade.

Foundouk Gargaa

This little courtyard fondouk market and rooftop cafe is just 50 meters in from the edge of the souk close to Katoubia mosque. Step into this leafy coutyard garden where they have local ceramics and handcraft brands on display.

The sunny rooftop is where you want to be on a hot day, sitting under the beautiful big shady tree with an iced tea.

Address: 9 Rue Koutoubia, Marrakech

Cafe Medina Rouge

Previously Cafe Kiff Kiff this lovely small cafe and restaurant is positioned on the edge of the medina, set over 3 levels with the best view over Katoubia Mosque towards the Atlas Mountains from the rooftop.

I love this spot for its simple rustic decor and relaxed vibe that's usually not too busy, with shady umbrellas and water misters on the roof for those extra hot days.

Address: 28 Rue Koutoubia, Marrakech

La Famille

A rustic and leafy courtyard setting with pizza oven, rustic shared tables and garden umbrellas. An all women run staff serving house made vegetarian dishes and sparkly ice teas.

Also has a small shop with a unique selection of local ceramics, homewares and handcrafts for purchasing on the way out.

Address: 34 Derb Jdid, Marrakech

Pikala Bicycle cafe

A rustic leafy courtyard setting set over a couple of sprawling levels of timber platforms and lush green plants, and fast wifi for the co-working space.

This is a relaxed vegetarian cafe all about sustainable locally grown food, where you can also rent bicycles for a ride around the city.

Address: 139 Arset Aouzal Rd, Marrakech

La Ferme Medina

A gorgeous lush green shady courtyard space amongst palms with little private nooks and big timber tables for a shared lunch or a quiet coffee spot.

Address: 236 Rue Riad Laarous, Marrakesh

Soul Food Rooftop Cafe

Above the concept store and boutique below where you can buy local made fashion and homewares.

This rooftop has a beautiful colourfully tiled jungle like entrance, then it's up the stairs to the umbrellas and lounges on the rooftop for a coffee stop or a quick lunch.

Address: Medina 14 Rue Amsefah, Rte Sidi Abdelaziz, Marrakesh

1112 Tea House

This is the latest Marrakech cafe opening in a gorgeous historical leafy riad courtyard full of palm trees where you can try tea from the extensive menu of blends from the various regions around Morocco.

A beautiful historic tiled riad setting with a more upmarket price tag to match.

Address: N° 12 Place de La Kissariat Ben Youssef, Marrakesh

Maison Rein

A Mediterranean style rooftop cafe and concept store with black and white tiled rooftop, Mediterranean lunch menu and boutique on the middle level selling fashion and jewellery and homewares.

Address: 32 bis Rue Fatima Zahra, Marrakech

Shtatto

Always the best rooftop stop for a coffee or iced tea when passing by Rahba Lakdima and the rug souk for a view over the rooftops and the spice square below.

Shady umbrellas and comfy lounges to stop and relax before heading back into the souk.

Address: 81, Derb Nkhal, Rahba Lakdima, Marrakesh

Cafe Des Epices

The old favourite and the original rooftop cafe on the spice square - very busy these days so best to visit early for coffee or be prepared to wait for a table on the roof as lunch times are especially busy.

Worth the wait though for a tagine with a view over the busy spice square below, or at ground level watching the market go by.

Address: 75 Derb Rahba Lakdima, Marrakech

L'Mida

One of the busier rooftop restaurant cafes also near the spice square Rahba Lakdima. Its pretty green decor, lush green plants and famous green lady make this a busy spot that's best to book for lunch.

Address: Derb Nkhal, 78 Rahba Lakdima, Marrakech
