About Beni Ourain Rugs

Our Beni Ourain rugs are handwoven from thick, 100% natural, undyed sheep's wool. These rugs originate from the mountainous Beni Ourain region in the Middle Atlas Mountains of Morocco, where cold winters call for thick wool carpets for warmth. Authentic vintage Beni Ourain rugs and carpets, along with those from the Marmoucha tribe, are among the most sought-after Berber rugs and vintage Moroccan rug styles.

These larger Beni rugs are ideal for dining areas, master bedrooms, and high-traffic lounge areas, providing cozy, thick wool underfoot. Smaller rugs are perfect for kids' bedrooms, nurseries, or as a beautiful feature in creative studios or studies. Although hallway runners are less common in vintage Beni Ourain styles, they are available in newly made rugs.

Beni Ourain Rug Sizes

The shape of the old-style Vintage Beni Ourain rugs are often narrow and long, due to the width of the traditional weaving looms and Moroccan architecture. They typically measure around 1.8 to 2 meters in width and up to 4.5 meters in length.
